Citizens accessing government services will now have extended operating hours at designated Huduma Centres nationwide under a new initiative to enhance accessibility and reduce congestion.
Huduma Kenya announced on Thursday, May 14, that it has officially extended its operational hours from 7 am to 7 pm, providing Kenyans with additional opportunities to access essential services outside regular working hours.
This adjustment coincides with a period when many Kenyans are rushing to meet tax filing deadlines, collect national identification cards, driving licenses, and utilize various government services.
Huduma Centres implementing the extended schedule include GPO, City Square, Eastleigh, Kisumu, Kakamega, Mombasa, Embu and Kisii.
Additional centres operating with extended hours are Meru, Migori, Mombasa, Nakuru, Nyeri, Uasin Gishu, Bungoma, Kitale, Meru, Migori, Kiambu, Kericho and Makadara.
According to the agency, this change makes government services more accessible and convenient for citizens throughout the country.
“Huduma Kenya is committed to serving you better. To make government services more accessible, 20 select centres across the country are now operating with extended hours, from 7 am to 7 pm,” the agency stated.
“This means you can visit early in the morning, during the day, or even after work, and still receive the assistance you need. Whether it’s renewing your documents or seeking information, Huduma Centres are available when you need them.”
The centres will provide key services, including KRA tax filing and compliance services, National ID application and collection, smart driving license processing and collection, and Passport services support.
Other critical services available at the centres include Social Health Authority (SHA) and related services, birth certificate applications, Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and student-related services, business registration and eCitizen support services.
The initiative aims to support Kenyans who previously faced challenges visiting the centres during standard working hours.
The announcement is expected to improve service delivery, particularly for employed Kenyans and business owners who often struggle to access services during typical daytime working hours.
