Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti expressed deep concern over a spike in homicide cases, stating that the recent murders are generating fear and eroding public confidence in security.

In a Friday statement, she lamented the rising number of killings, citing the murder of three young men in Machakos Town among the recent unsettling incidents.

“As a mother and Governor, I am profoundly saddened by the surge in homicides within the county,” Ndeti said, emphasizing that no family should face the loss of a loved one to violent crime. She extended condolences to the bereaved families and colleagues of the victims, describing the deaths as tragic and senseless.

The governor urged security forces to urgently investigate all reported incidents, demanding that suspects be apprehended and prosecuted. She highlighted that restoring safety requires swift, decisive action from law enforcement and reaffirmed the county’s dedication to partnering with national security agencies and local communities to bolster security and rebuild confidence.

“Nobody should be left to grieve a child’s death, and families must not endure pain from callous acts,” she stated, calling for unity to confront the county’s insecurity.

The statement follows growing worry among Machakos residents over increasing fear after a series of violent events. Police investigating a recent case uncovered the body of an African male, estimated to be 45–50 years old, marking yet another discovery as investigations proceed.
