The mobility company Bolt has refuted claims suggesting its withdrawal from the Kenyan market, labeling such reports as “false and misleading.”
Through an official statement, the ride-hailing service clarified that a document claiming its departure from Kenya was counterfeit and did not come from Bolt or any of its authorized representatives.
“The circulating document is fraudulent. It was not issued by Bolt nor through any of our official channels,” stated Dimmy Kanyankole, Senior General Manager for East Africa.
The company assured its driver-partners and customers that it continues to operate fully and remains dedicated to serving the Kenyan market.
“We maintain operations throughout Kenya and are committed to delivering dependable services to all stakeholders,” Kanyankole emphasized.
Bolt additionally mentioned that it is investigating the origin of the false information and warned against spreading unverified claims.
“We encourage the public and our partners to seek accurate updates exclusively through verified Bolt channels,” the statement read.
After the false news circulated, numerous reactions emerged online, with some drivers reportedly expressing joy over the company’s alleged exit from Kenya.
Nevertheless, the company restated its dedication to transparency and accountability, emphasizing that it will keep supporting the thousands of drivers and riders who rely on its platform daily.
