Athletics Kenya (AK) has expressed profound admiration for Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) President Hamad Kalkaba Malboum following reports of his demise.
The organization characterized him as a transformative leader who significantly advanced African athletics internationally.
In a Wednesday statement, AK President Jackson Tuwei remarked that the African athletics community had lost a visionary administrator, mentor, and unifying figure whose impact on the sport would persist for generations.
“It is with profound sorrow and deep sadness that I have received the news of the passing of Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) President Hamad Kalkaba Malboum,” Tuwei stated.
Tuwei offered condolences to Kalkaba’s family, the Cameroonian people, the Confederation of African Athletics, World Athletics, and the worldwide athletics community.
“President Kalkaba was an exceptional leader whose dedication, wisdom, and passion for athletics significantly transformed and elevated the sport across the African continent,” he remarked.
Tuwei, who collaborated with Kalkaba as CAA Vice President and fellow member of the World Athletics Council, mentioned having personally observed the late administrator’s dedication to promoting African athletics on the international stage.
“I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand his visionary leadership, humility, and tireless efforts in championing African athletics on the global stage,” he added.
The Athletics Kenya chief further characterized Kalkaba as “a towering sports administrator, mentor, and unifying figure whose legacy will forever remain embedded in the history of athletics.”
