by KenyaPolls

The Kenyan government, through the Ministry of Health, has officially launched a nationwide integrated vaccination campaign targeting measles‑rubella (MR) and typhoid (via Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine, TCV). Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale flagged off the drive at Githogoro Grounds in Nairobi, emphasizing the importance of protecting children from these preventable diseases.
The 10-day campaign runs from 1 to 14 July 2025 and aims to reach 3.9 million children across all 47 counties. The target age groups are:
9 months to 59 months for the Measles-Rubella vaccine

9 months to 14 years for the Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV)

In Turkana County, where immunity gaps have been identified, the county government is supporting the drive by rolling out vaccination in all sub‑counties, schools, places of worship, and outreach posts.Health authorities in Kiambu and Vihiga counties have also joined the campaign, urging parents and guardians to take advantage of free vaccines offered at health facilities, schools, and mobile sites.
The Ministry of Health has called on community leaders, religious institutions, teachers, and parents to support widespread uptake. CS Duale noted that the Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine offers long-term protection (at least four years) and will be added to Kenya’s routine immunization schedule going forward.
