Turkana Launches Desert Clay Sculpture & Running for Youth Identity

Turkana County hosted the Clay & Run Festival on August 1, 2025—young people sculpted ancestral symbols from river clay before running 5km loops around the installation. Identity is shaped—like clay, like character, said elder Lemaron Lengurisi. JKUAT monitored 250 participants: 79% reported stronger cultural pride. UNESCO is reviewing it for intangible heritage.
