MACHAKOS, Kenya – The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has officially received a 20-acre parcel of land from the Machakos County Government, marking a major milestone in the development of football infrastructure in the country. The handover, which took place at Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s office on Friday, will facilitate the construction of a state-of-the-art Technical Training Centre aimed at nurturing talent, enhancing coaching standards, and improving the competitiveness of Kenya’s national teams. FKF President Hussein Mohammed signed the title deed alongside Governor Wavinya, highlighting the collaboration between national sports bodies and county authorities.
The new facility, strategically located on the outskirts of Machakos town, is expected to serve as a hub for football training and technical development. Mohammed described the project as a transformative step for Kenyan football, noting that the centre will help develop young talent while raising the quality of coaching across the country. This facility will contribute greatly to the growth and strengthening of football in Kenya. Our ambition is to see Machakos become the headquarters of FKF, he stated. The initiative underscores the importance of local partnerships in creating sustainable sports infrastructure that benefits both athletes and the wider community.
Governor Wavinya Ndeti pledged her administration’s full support for the project, emphasizing plans to improve sports-related infrastructure in Machakos County. She announced that, in addition to the Technical Training Centre, her government intends to construct a Level Six hospital dedicated to serving athletes, ensuring they have access to world-class medical care. We want to make sure my administration provides a conducive environment for this facility. This will not only benefit the people of Machakos but also Kenyans at large, Wavinya said. The collaboration sets a precedent for public-private partnerships in sports, signaling a renewed focus on talent development and the long-term growth of football in Kenya.
