Family, friends and national leaders assembled in Kitengela to honor Rukia, wife of former Solicitor General Ken Ogeto, and say their final goodbye.
The late Rukia was fondly remembered as a nurturing mother, faithful spouse, and modest friend during her burial service on Tuesday.
The dignified occasion brought together notable personalities from various regions, all coming together to pay homage to a woman cherished for her warmth, humility, dedication to family, and quiet resilience.
Among the tributes, Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke shared heartfelt remarks about a friendship between the two families that endured for many years, transcending professional boundaries.
Isaboke reminisced that even when Ken Ogeto served as SG while he worked in the private sector, the families maintained close ties through connections of trust, mutual respect, and common values.
“Some relationships extend beyond official roles and professional networks. They become like family. The Ogeto family has been part of our lives for many years, and Rukia was at the heart of that connection,” he said.

He portrayed the late Rukia as an elegant and unassuming woman whose kindness and dedication to her family made a profound impact on everyone who knew her.
The Principal Secretary contemplated the timeless values that constitute a meaningful life, observing that while public accomplishments often draw attention, a person’s true legacy is assessed by the relationships they cultivate and the influence they exert on others.
He stated that Rukia’s life exemplified these virtues and would continue to motivate family members, friends, and the broader community.
The funeral attracted an impressive array of leaders and professionals, highlighting the esteem in which both Rukia and the Ogeto family were held.

Among the attendees were former Interior Cabinet Secretary and Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Dr. Fred Okengo Matiang’i, former Principal Secretary Susan Mochache, former Cabinet Minister Prof. Sam Ongeri, seasoned lawyer and businessman Mohamed Nyaoga, former Nyaribari Chache Member of Parliament Richard Tong’i, high-ranking government officials, legal professionals, religious leaders, and members of the broader Gusii community.
Throughout the ceremony, speakers depicted a devoted wife, affectionate mother, and reliable friend whose steadfast support and compassion affected numerous lives.
They characterized her as a source of strength within her family and a woman whose leadership frequently manifested through subtle gestures of care and service rather than public acknowledgment.
As mourners encircled the family to bid farewell, the dominant sentiment was appreciation for a life well spent and a legacy firmly anchored in love, humility, and family togetherness.
“Rukia’s life demonstrated these virtues and will continue to inspire those who knew her,” Isaboke remarked.
