Kenya Wins Bid to Host 2028 World Mountain Running Championshi+B2ps

World Athletics awarded Kenya the 2028 World Mountain Running Championships on August 30, 2025—with races to be held on the slopes of Mt. Kenya (Naro Moru route). The winning bid emphasized altitude authenticity, community inclusion, and carbon-neutral logistics (heli-free transport, solar timing). The mountain built our champions. Now it hosts the world, said CS Wafula. Over 500 athletes from 60 nations are expected. Proceeds will fund the *Mt. Kenya Trail Restoration Project*. Local communities will supply food, guides, and cultural performances. Kenya last hosted a global athletics event in 2017 (World U18 Champs). Training camps for Kenyan hopefuls begin in January 2026.
