Kenya’s first high-altitude cross-training hub—The Inzikuru Complex—opened in Sotik, Bomet County, on September 3, 2025, modeled after Uganda’s Kapchorwa facility that produced steeplechase legend Dorcus Inzikuru. The KSh 1.1 billion center features an 8-lane tartan track, altitude chamber (simulating 2,800m), hydrotherapy pool, and dormitories for 120 athletes. Built through a public-private partnership (Bomet County, KCB Foundation, World Athletics), it prioritizes *women and youth* in middle- and long-distance disciplines. First resident athlete, 18-year-old steeplechaser Faith Chemutai, set a world U-20 lead (8:59.41) at its inaugural meet.
