In a surprise breakthrough, Kenya’s debutant teqball team won bronze in the mixed doubles category at the 2025 Teqball World Championships in Budapest on November 9, 2025. The sport—played on a curved table, combining football skills and table tennis reflexes—saw former Harambee Stars winger Clifton Miheso and beach volleyball star Brackcides Khadambi partner to stun higher-ranked European pairs. Their semi-final loss to Hungary was decided 2–1 in a 22-minute tiebreak. It’s footwork, vision, and joy, said Miheso. Teqball Kenya, recognized by NOCK only in 2024, received KSh 15 million to build 10 courts in youth polytechnics. The win triggered viral #TeqballKenya challenges on TikTok, with over 2M views. CAF is considering teqball as a demonstration sport for AFCON 2027.
