Kenya must nurture its economic sovereignty and set an example for Africa. Speaking at the funeral of Mama Zipporah Kosgey in Nandi Hills Constituency, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi warned the nation that reliance on aid is unsustainable.
He noted that the world is changing fast, and countries must finance growth through trade, innovation, investment, and domestic revenue instead of donor funding.
With elections approaching, Mudavadi urged citizens to concentrate on building the nation and ensure a peaceful, dispute-free 2027 general election to safeguard resources and prevent long‑lasting political tension. He encouraged unregistered yet eligible voters to join the upcoming registration drives to bolster democratic governance.
The Prime CS also praised Parliament for approving the 2026/27 Finance Bill, framing it as essential for funding public services and maintaining economic stability amidst global shocks such as supply‑chain constraints, rising energy costs, and the Middle East conflict.
Mudavadi concluded that careful fiscal stewardship and strong leadership will guide Kenya through these challenges. The event also honored Mrs. Zipporah Kosgey, former cabinet minister Henry Kosgey’s wife, for her devoted service to the community and church.
