Kakamega Establishes Ebola Quarantine Centers Amid Heightened Preparedness

by KenyaPolls

Kakamega County Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has unveiled plans to establish two quarantine facilities aimed at preventing the spread of Ebola. The county has been identified among those at elevated risk for the disease.

Addressing media personnel in Kakamega town while reviewing county strategies, Savula emphasized that Kakamega has already implemented measures to prevent virus transmission.

He further chastised leaders for politicizing health issues, urging them to cease opposing the development of quarantine facilities nationwide.

His views were reinforced by Brown Ashira, Secretary-General of the Kenya Environmental Health Officers Association (KEHOA), who defended President William Ruto’s directives concerning the establishment of a quarantine facility in Laikipia.

Ashira also commended Kakamega County’s preparedness for handling a potential outbreak and urged both National and County governments to prioritize the recruitment of additional public health officers.
