Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has confirmed that Kenya has implemented stringent precautions to prevent the Ebola virus from entering the country.
He stated that enhanced screening procedures are currently in operation at all entry points for visitors coming from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.
During Eid al-Adha celebrations on Wednesday, Duale announced that the Ministry of Health has heightened monitoring at airports and border crossings due to the escalating fatality count from the Ebola outbreak in the DRC, which has now exceeded 200 deaths.
“As both the government and ministry, we have established comprehensive safeguards. At our borders, we have deployed scanners at airports, and we are conducting thorough examinations of all individuals entering our nation, particularly those arriving from Uganda or those who transited through Kinshasa. All travelers will face rigorous screening and verification,” Duale stated.
The Cabinet Secretary noted that health authorities continue to maintain elevated readiness to promptly identify and address any potential cases, with this increased focus specifically directed at travelers who may have traversed Ebola-impacted regions prior to reaching Kenya.
Officials have also urged the public to stay alert and to fully comply with health screening protocols at all entry points as the administration strives to prevent a potential outbreak.
