The anguish of a mother’s grief was evident on Priscilla Murungi’s face as she grappled with the shocking passing of her daughter, Anita Kendi, who died recently following a brief illness.
During her sorrowful eulogy, the heartbroken mother frequently lost her composure while honoring her daughter, characterizing the tragedy as indescribable and beyond full understanding.
Priscilla, spouse of former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi, expressed continued bewilderment at why her daughter had departed “prematurely and without any indication.”
Struggling to hold back her tears, she explained that Anita’s departure had created an emptiness that defied verbal expression.
“I can only pray and hope you have found peace as we struggle through the agonizing sorrow of your absence,” she whispered.
The intense feeling of sorrow intensified as her voice faltered while speaking to family and attendees assembled to commemorate Anita’s life.
Priscilla sought divine strength and solace for the family as they navigate this heartbreaking period of mourning.
“I beseech God to bring comfort to us as a family,” she stated before briefly stopping, overcome by her feelings.
With tears streaming down her face, the bereaved mother recalled the cherished instances she experienced with her daughter, asserting that those recollections would endure with her always.
“Perhaps time will lessen the hurt. Individually, I recognize that the mark will remain forever. Whenever I think of you, I will always recall those wonderful smiles, affectionate embraces, and personal moments we shared to help me carry forward,” she shared.
At one moment, her voice completely failed her as she acknowledged that existence would never return to normal after losing her child.
“I am certain that my existence will never be the same again,” she conveyed with deep emotion.
In what might have been the most devastating part of her speech, Priscilla directly addressed her deceased daughter, conveying the profound affection and yearning she still harbored in her soul.
“Wherever you may be, please understand that I will miss you,” she said while crying.
Shortly after, consumed by grief and distress, she tearfully added, “I will always love you. May you rest in peace, my beloved daughter.”
Anita Kendi’s unexpected demise has plunged family members, relations, and acquaintances into bereavement, with condolences continuing to arrive from public figures and those acquainted with her.
Describing the final hours of his daughter Anita Kendi, former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi mentioned she became unwell shortly after participating in a gathering of African female researchers at Windsor Hotel in Nairobi.
Kiraitu stated that Anita reported experiencing headache, queasiness, and vomiting prior to being transported to the hospital for examinations and care.
Upon returning home, she seemed to be recovering and went to rest, expressing her desire to resume the conference the following day.
Nevertheless, around 4 am, the family hurried her to The Nairobi Hospital after her condition worsened, where medical staff subsequently confirmed she had no pulse.
“The doctor returned later and informed me she had no pulse. And that is the account. It was that severe,” Kiraitu shared with deep emotion.
