Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale lauded Kenya’s healthcare professionals for their steadfast commitment, highlighting their essential role in fostering a healthier and more prosperous society.

In a May 1st, 2026 statement, Duale honored the nation’s medical staff, recognizing their crucial contribution to protecting the health of countless Kenyans through their daily work in healthcare facilities and communities nationwide.

“We honor the dedication of our healthcare workforce and everyone whose daily work preserves the well-being of our nation,” Duale stated. “Their contributions remain essential to building a healthier and more productive society.”

The Health Minister pointed out that Labour Day provides a valuable moment to acknowledge professionals from all industries, with particular emphasis on healthcare providers whose dedication continues to reinforce the nation’s healthcare system amid persistent sectoral challenges.

The Cabinet Secretary also took the opportunity to reiterate the government’s dedication to advancing the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) initiative, which stands as one of the nation’s principal social development strategies focused on enhancing healthcare accessibility for every Kenyan.

“We reaffirm our pledge to advance the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda to ensure all Kenyans can access quality and affordable healthcare services,” he declared.

Duale stressed that universal healthcare access is fundamental to enhancing living standards, decreasing disease prevalence, and preventing any Kenyan from being excluded because of prohibitive medical expenses.

His comments coincide with ongoing government efforts to implement health sector reforms designed to increase healthcare accessibility, affordability, and efficiency within the UHC framework.

During the nation’s Labour Day celebrations, Duale conveyed his greetings to all Kenyan workers, praising their role in national advancement and restating the Ministry of Health’s determination to back a robust healthcare system that serves every individual.

“Happy Labour Day to all Kenyans,” Duale expressed in a demonstration of appreciation and solidarity with the nation’s workforce.
