Counties with Highest Teen Pregnancy Rates

by KenyaPolls

Recent nationwide statistics indicate a troubling increase in teenage pregnancies, with the total number of cases climbing from 224,333 in 2025 to 235,938 in 2026.

This growth presents a considerable challenge for healthcare and social services, as over 11,000 more girls aged 10 to 19 required maternal healthcare in the current year compared to the previous one.

Nairobi County reported the highest number of cases nationwide, with 14,291 instances, placing it at the top of the national rankings. The capital’s statistics demonstrate significant strain on urban social systems and reproductive healthcare facilities.

Kakamega County follows with 11,835 reported cases, while both Narok and Bungoma exceeded 10,000 instances at 10,934 and 10,444 respectively. These four counties serve as the primary areas where teenage pregnancy rates are most concentrated.

Additional counties with significant numbers include Migori at 8,667 cases and Kajiado with 8,296. Nakuru and Meru recorded 8,214 and 8,115 cases respectively, showing that the issue affects regions across central, rift, and western areas of the country.

Completing the top ten rankings are Homa Bay with 7,846 cases and West Pokot with 7,696. According to the Economic Survey published in April 2026, these statistics highlight a nationwide concern.
