Eric Omondi Launches Sisi kwa Sisi Rescue Centre After Nairobi-Mombasa Walk

by KenyaPolls

Comedian and activist Eric Omondi has officially commenced construction of the Sisi kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre following a successful 486-kilometre charity walk from Nairobi to Mombasa. The initiative represents a significant achievement in his charitable endeavors, which have provided support to Kenyans facing difficulties over the past couple of years. Since establishing the Sisi kwa Sisi movement, Eric has aided victims of police brutality, students in substandard schools, persons with disabilities, and grieving families. His direct involvement has garnered widespread appreciation, and the project seeks to create a lasting effect on communities requiring assistance.

The charity walk, which commenced on February 10 and concluded on Valentine’s Day, presented both physical and mental challenges. Eric encountered fatigue and sustained minor injuries during the initial day, yet he maintained his dedication to the cause. Supporters contributed by ‘purchasing’ kilometres, enabling them to support the project even for sections Eric could not traverse due to safety considerations. The journey underscored the significance of community backing in accomplishing charitable objectives. It also generated awareness about the upcoming rescue centre, fostering greater public involvement and contributions.

The Sisi kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre will include a rescue house, a warehouse, administrative offices, a clinic, and two ambulances to aid those requiring urgent assistance. Eric also disclosed intentions to develop a free secondary school for underprivileged students on adjacent land, ensuring prolonged educational support alongside emergency services. The centre is designed as a multi-purpose facility addressing both immediate rescue requirements and longer-term development for at-risk populations. This comprehensive vision illustrates Eric’s commitment to establishing sustainable support structures in Kenya.

Construction has now formally commenced, with heavy equipment and laborers preparing the site. While the precise location has not been revealed, Eric shared footage documenting the preliminary phases of development. He emphasized the collaborative nature of the project, encouraging supporters to continue contributing to ensure the centre’s completion and ongoing operation. “Team Sisi kwa Sisi, what was once a dream is becoming a reality. We are building the Sisi kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre,” Eric stated, outlining the planned facilities and future expansion.

Eric Omondi’s initiative highlights the increasing role of public figures in tackling social challenges through philanthropy. By mobilizing resources and engaging communities directly, he has established a precedent for practical, hands-on activism. The Sisi kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre is expected to become a valuable resource for vulnerable Kenyans, combining emergency aid with long-term educational opportunities. Eric’s appeal for continued support demonstrates that collective action is crucial for transforming ambitious visions into concrete results. This project reflects both his commitment to giving back and the potential for charitable movements to create enduring social change.
