Homa Bay has marked a milestone in women’s health and local industry with the opening of the Galentine Care Sanitary Pad Factory in Kasgunga, Suba North Constituency. Being the first such facility in the county, it will manufacture cost-effective, superior quality sanitary pads while generating employment and stimulating economic development.
Established by Peter Omondi McOdida, the initiative presents the Galentine Care Pada slim, leak-proof, and comfortable hygiene product developed to deliver dependable menstrual protection for women and girls. Local production will help decrease expenses, enhance product availability, and offer sustainable approaches to a nationwide issue.
During the official launch, Governor Gladys Wanga commended the project for its dual benefits to society and the economy. “This factory addresses an essential requirement in our community and shows Homa Bay’s attractiveness for investment. We are developing industries that promote economic advancement, employment creation, and enhance the quality of life for residents,” she stated.
McOdida highlighted the project’s purpose-driven approach. “We are committed to ensuring that every woman and girl can access quality menstrual care without barriers. Local manufacturing makes these products more reasonably priced and obtainable, while fostering community-based sustainable initiatives,” he noted.
The plant is anticipated to create immediate job opportunities in Kasgunga and encourage related business activities, lessening dependence on imported sanitary items. Its creation also coincides with Kenya’s wider efforts to promote domestic production and community-led enterprises.
Production has commenced right away, with Galentine Care Pads scheduled to become available in Homa Bay and surrounding areas in the near future. This opening represents advancement, self-respect, and economic prospects for women and households in Suba North, signifying considerable progress in social welfare and industrial advancement.
