Kenya Airways has inducted two converted Boeing 737-800 freighters into its SkyCargo fleet, increasing capacity by 40%. The aircraft will serve Nairobi–Dubai–Mumbai and Nairobi–Lagos routes, responding to surging demand for e-commerce parcels, fresh produce, and pharmaceuticals. CEO Allan Kilavuka noted that SkyCargo revenue grew by 28% in 2023, outpacing passenger recovery. The new planes feature temperature-controlled holds for perishables. The airline aims to capture 15% of East Africa’s air cargo market by 2026, up from 9% today, supporting Kenya’s ambition to become a regional logistics hub under LAPSSET.
