Cellulant Secures $40 Million to Expand Agri-Wallet Across Africa

by KenyaPolls

Kenyan fintech Cellulant has raised $40 million to scale its Tigopesa Agri-Wallet across 10 African countries. The platform enables farmers to receive payments, buy inputs, and access credit via mobile money. In Kenya, it serves 800,000 smallholders in the dairy, maize, and coffee value chains. CEO Ken Njoroge said the funding will integrate satellite data for crop insurance and market pricing. Investors include Mastercard Foundation and British International Investment. The expansion supports AfCFTA’s agricultural trade goals and enhances financial inclusion in rural areas.
