Shujaa, Kenya’s national rugby sevens team, continued their upward trajectory in the 2024 World Rugby Sevens Series by reaching the Main Cup quarterfinals at the Vancouver tournament. The team put in a series of impressive performances, topping their pool after a thrilling victory over series leaders Argentina. Their speed, physicality, and improved defensive structure were on full display throughout the day. Key tries from speedster Patrick Odongo and the tactical kicking of captain Tony Oduor were instrumental in their success. Although they were narrowly defeated in the quarterfinals by a strong New Zealand side, their overall performance in Vancouver was their best of the season so far and solidified their position as a team on the rise.
