Kenya’s Digital Health Records Cover 8 Million Patients

by KenyaPolls

Kenya’s Unified Electronic Health Records (UEHR) system now covers 8 million patients across 1,200 public health facilities. The platform, managed by the Ministry of Health, digitizes diagnoses, prescriptions, and lab results, enabling seamless care across clinics and hospitals. Integration with NHIF allows instant billing and coverage checks. Early results show 30% reduction in duplicate tests and improved disease surveillance. The system is expanding to private hospitals in 2024. WHO calls it a model for digital health in low-resource settings. By 2027, Kenya aims for universal health records coverage under the Social Health Authority.
