The Ministry of Lands has rolled out a nationwide digital land registry system, linking all 47 counties to a central blockchain-backed platform. Over 12 million titles are being digitized, with free verification via USSD. The World Bank hailed the move as transformative for property rights and credit access. Early adopters in Nairobi and Kiambu report 70% faster transfers. However, rural uptake is slow due to low digital literacy. The government is training 5,000 community agents to assist citizens. Once complete, the system could unlock Ksh5 trillion in dead capital tied to informal land holdings.
