Kenya’s Fashion Industry Gains Global Spotlight at Paris Expo

Kenyan designers like Adele Dejak and Kibet took center stage at the 2024 Paris Fashion Week, showcasing Afro-modern wear made from sustainable cotton and recycled fabrics. The Kenya Association of Manufacturers reported a 27% rise in textile exports to Europe and the U.S. in Q1 2024. The Made in Kenya brand is gaining traction, supported by Rivatex’s fabric supply and government export incentives. The sector employs 200,000 people, mostly women. Plans to establish a Fashion and Textile Institute in Eldoret aim to build design and manufacturing capacity under the Cotton Revival Plan.
