Kenya’s Fashion Designers Win Global Awards at Lagos Style Week

Kenyan designers Adele Dejak, Katungulu Mwendwa, and Anyango Mpinga won top honors at the 2024 Lagos Fashion Week for sustainable Afro-futurism and upcycled textiles. Their success amplifies Kenya’s growing influence in Africa’s $31 billion fashion industry. The Kenya Association of Manufacturers reports a 35% rise in textile exports to West Africa, supported by EAC-ECOWAS trade dialogues. Nairobi’s annual Fashion Africa Summit will host designers from 20 countries in October 2024.
