Kenya’s Social Protection Digital ID system now links 10 million beneficiaries across cash transfer programs like Inua Jamii, Hunger Safety Net, and the Digital Maternity Wallet. The platform, managed by the State Department for Social Protection, uses biometric verification to eliminate ghost beneficiaries and ensure timely payments. Over Ksh45 billion was disbursed in 2023 with 99% accuracy. The system integrates with Huduma Namba and NHIF for seamless service delivery. The World Bank calls it one of Africa’s most advanced social registries. By 2025, all social programs will be unified under this single digital identity, reducing duplication and enhancing targeting of the poor and vulnerable.
