Kenya’s data centre ecosystem—led by Konza, Nairobi, and Mombasa hubs—has attracted $500 million in investment from Microsoft, Google, and Liquid Intelligent Technologies in 2023–2024. Driven by Kenya’s 93% renewable energy grid and strategic location, the data centre market is projected to grow by 25% annually. The Konza Technopolis data park alone will host 200MW of capacity. This supports fintech, healthtech, and AI startups requiring low-latency, secure hosting. The government’s Data Protection Office has streamlined licensing. The boom is creating 5,000 high-skilled jobs and positioning Kenya as a digital gateway to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
