Kenya Airways Cargo Division Expands Cold Chain for Pharma Exports

by KenyaPolls

Kenya Airways’ SkyCargo has launched a state-of-the-art cold chain facility at JKIA to handle temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals and vaccines. The Ksh2 billion investment, supported by UNICEF and WHO, enables exports of Kenyan-made medicines to West Africa and imports of life-saving drugs. The facility meets IATA CEIV Pharma standards and includes real-time monitoring. With Kenya joining the AfCFTA Pharma Initiative, the hub could process $200 million in medical cargo annually. The move diversifies revenue beyond passenger flights and positions Nairobi as a regional health logistics gateway.
