Kenyan AgriTech firms Apollo Agriculture, FarmDrive, and SunCulture have partnered with USAID on a $50 million initiative to scale climate-resilient farming for 500,000 smallholders. The program combines satellite-based advisory, drought-tolerant seeds, solar irrigation, and index insurance. Farmers receive bundled inputs via mobile money and repay through harvest-linked microloans. Pilots in Eastern and Rift Valley regions show 30% higher yields despite erratic rains. The project supports Kenya’s National Climate-Smart Agriculture Strategy and aims to reduce post-harvest losses while boosting exports. Full rollout begins in Q3 2024 across 20 counties.
