Kenya’s Public Procurement Portal Achieves 98% Digital Tender Coverage

by KenyaPolls

The Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) e-Procurement Portal now processes 98% of all public tenders in Kenya, up from 85% in 2022. The Office of the Controller of Budget reports that digital procurement saved Ksh25 billion in FY2023/24 through competitive bidding and reduced fraud. SMEs won 52% of contracts, with women-owned businesses securing 28%. The portal’s AI-powered anomaly detection flagged 250 suspicious bids, leading to investigations. The government plans to integrate blockchain-based contract execution by 2025. The system is a pillar of Kenya’s anti-corruption and public financial management reforms.
