President Ruto Highlights Kenya’s Commitment to Strong Bilateral and Multilateral Relations
Nairobi, Kenya – President William Ruto has reaffirmed Kenya’s dedication to fostering strong and mutually beneficial ties with nations and international organizations. Speaking on February 10, 2025, during the Annual Address to Heads of Mission and International Organisations at State House, Nairobi, the President emphasized the pivotal role of the diplomatic community in promoting dialogue, cooperation, and tangible benefits for Kenyans and the global community. He highlighted Kenya’s focus on regional integration, intra-African cooperation, economic diplomacy, and global peace and security.
In his address, President Ruto commended foreign missions for their contributions in trade, investment, health, education, technology transfer, infrastructure development, and capacity building. He encouraged the diplomatic community to explore opportunities for public-private partnerships and investment that could drive mutual prosperity. Additionally, the President called for urgent reforms in multilateral institutions, particularly the United Nations, advocating for greater African representation and a fairer global financial system. He also underscored Kenya’s achievements in mobilizing $100 billion in concessional funding through the IDA21 Replenishment Summit, reinforcing the country’s role as a proactive participant in international development.
President Ruto further addressed regional security concerns, including the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo, urging structured funding for peace missions and prioritizing humanitarian access. Beyond Africa, he reaffirmed Kenya’s contribution to global security efforts, including the Multi-National Security Support mission in Haiti. Domestically, he highlighted initiatives under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, focusing on infrastructure, healthcare, education, job creation, and digital innovation. By linking diplomacy with national development, President Ruto positioned Kenya as a responsible global actor committed to peace, prosperity, and sustainable growth.
