Kenya’s First National Sports Chaplaincy Program Launched

by KenyaPolls

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) and NCCK launched the Sports Chaplaincy Program on February 14, 2025—training 50 interfaith chaplains to support athletes’ mental, spiritual, and ethical well-being. Chaplains serve at camps, tournaments, and academies—offering counseling, values education, and crisis support. Victory is fleeting—character is forever, said lead chaplain Rev. David Ochieng. The program is voluntary and pluralistic, with Muslim, Hindu, and traditional spiritual guides included. Early feedback: 89% of athletes found sessions helpful during pre-competition stress.
