The Kenya Society for the Deaf and NOCK launched the Sports Sign Language Interpreters Corps on March 3, 2025—certifying 30 interpreters fluent in Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) and sport terminology. They now serve at national events, pressers, and broadcasts—ensuring access for deaf athletes and fans. Sport is universal—but only if communication is, said interpreter Grace Akinyi. The corps trained with Uganda and Tanzania for regional consistency. KBC now features live KSL at all major finals. FIFA praised Kenya’s inclusivity leadership.
