Nakuru County won the 2025 National School Goalball Championship in Machakos on April 5, 2025—fielding integrated teams of blind and sighted students using voice cues and tactile courts. Standout: 15-year-old Ian Mwangi, who recorded 8 defensive blocks in the final. Goalball teaches listening—not just blocking, said coach Jane Kamau. The county built Kenya’s first school goalball court. Safaricom donated 50 kits. East Africa Schools Goalball Fest planned for 2026.
