In a landmark achievement for Kenyan cycling, the national U-23 squad—Team Kenya Pro—won the Team Classification at the 2025 *Tour de l’Espoir* in Rwanda (April 10–14, 2025), finishing ahead of Algeria and Morocco. Though no Kenyan claimed an individual stage win, consistent top-10 finishes by climbers James Mugo, Evans Kiplagat, and time-trial specialist Lucy Wangari secured the aggregate prize—Kenya’s first continental team honor in road cycling. The squad trained for six months at the new Rift Valley Cycling Base in Nakuru, funded by the Sports Ministry and Team Qhubeka partnership. We proved altitude + discipline = African cycling power, said coach Joseph Kiptoo. Following the win, Kenya qualified for the inaugural *African Cycling Nations Cup* in 2026. Bicycling Kenya reported a 200% surge in youth club registrations post-tour.
