Kenya’s National Floorball for the Deaf Team Wins Africa Gold

Kenya’s deaf floorball team—the *Silent Sticks*—won gold at the 2025 Africa Deaf Floorball Cup in Kampala on April 19, 2025, defeating Uganda 7–2. Using visual signals and vibration vests for substitutions, the team showcased speed and cohesion. Captain Grace Akinyi (Nairobi) scored 5 goals in the final. We don’t hear the whistle—but we feel the game, she signed. The Kenya Deaf Sports Federation now has 8 floorball clubs. KSh 15 million was allocated for adaptive equipment. Kenya qualifies for the 2026 World Deaf Champs in Finland.
