Tana River County hosted the inaugural Tana River Games on May 3, 2025—featuring canoe slalom, sandcastle engineering, and flood-response drills to build community resilience. Over 1,200 youth participated, using recycled materials for challenges. Winners designed a bamboo flood barrier now being piloted in Kipini. Play today, protect tomorrow, said County Executive for Environment, Amina Yusuf. The Red Cross and KWS supported the event. A documentary aired on KBC, and the model is being shared with Niger River communities.
