What began as a school smoothie program in Marsabit has evolved into Kenya’s first Camel Milk Sports Nutrition Hub, officially inaugurated on May 7, 2025. Backed by KEMRI, JKUAT, and the County Government, the Hub produces scientifically fortified camel milk products: protein bars (12g protein), recovery shakes (iron + vitamin C), and electrolyte gels (from dates and tamarind). We’re decolonizing sports nutrition—one camel at a time, said lead scientist Dr. Halima Duba. Over 5,000 athletes now receive monthly rations; hemoglobin levels in female runners rose 24% in 6 months. The Ministry of Sports adopted the Hub’s *ASAL Nutrition Protocol* for all national camps. UNICEF is replicating the model in Somalia and Ethiopia.
