County Supports Nairobi Youth Entrepreneurs With Funding

Nairobi County rolled out a new initiative to support youth entrepreneurs with funding, marking a significant step in empowering young innovators and small business owners. The program was introduced alongside the Sustainable Innovation Seed Accelerator, which focuses on providing seed-stage startups with capital, mentorship, and access to investor networks. County officials emphasized that the funding initiative aligns with Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which prioritizes youth empowerment and SME growth.
The funding support includes grants, low-interest loans, and access to venture capital partnerships, enabling young entrepreneurs to scale their businesses and explore new markets. Nairobi County partnered with development agencies, banks, and private investors to ensure that youth-led enterprises can access affordable financing. The program also integrates training in financial literacy, digital transformation, and export readiness, equipping entrepreneurs with the skills needed to sustain growth.
Youth entrepreneurs have welcomed the initiative, noting that funding helps them overcome challenges such as limited access to capital, weak networks, and high startup costs. Looking ahead, Nairobi County plans to expand youth funding opportunities by integrating AI-powered financing platforms, green business grants, and partnerships with global investors. Officials believe that by embedding funding into youth entrepreneurship, Nairobi can accelerate job creation, attract foreign investment, and reinforce its role as East Africa’s innovation hub.
