Kenya’s National Floorball for the Deaf Youth Team Wins Africa Gold

Kenya’s deaf youth floorball team—the *Silent Cubs*—won gold at the 2025 Africa Deaf U-18 Floorball Cup in Kampala on June 1, 2025, defeating Uganda 9–2. Using visual signals and vibration vests, Grace Akinyi Jr. (14) scored 7 goals. We don’t hear the whistle—but we feel the game’s joy, she signed. The Kenya Deaf Sports Federation now has 8 youth clubs. Safaricom pledged KSh 15 million. Kenya qualifies for the 2026 World Deaf Youth Champs.
