The M-PESA Foundation has committed KES 151 million to support education projects in Bungoma, Baringo, and Homa Bay counties, aiming to improve learning outcomes through enhanced school infrastructure.
In Bungoma County, the Foundation is investing KES 55 million at Toroso SA Primary School, which will include:
15 classrooms
ICT and Science laboratories
Administration block
School kitchen
Ablution blocks for teachers and learners
In Homa Bay County, at Ligongo Primary School, the Foundation has begun construction valued at KES 55 million, covering:
12 classrooms
ICT laboratory
School kitchen
Ablution blocks for learners and staff
In Baringo County, KES 41 million has been allocated for:
Library construction and furnishing
200-capacity multipurpose hall
ICT and science laboratories
ECDE classrooms
Administration block construction and furnishing
Joseph Ogutu, Chairman of Safaricom Foundation, stated that these initiatives align with their mission to transform lives by collaborating with partners, including the Ministry of Education, to upgrade schools with priority given to the neediest areas.
Additionally, the Foundation has recently handed over:
A fully equipped science lab worth KES 2.5 million at Siangwe Secondary School, Bungoma
Four classrooms worth KES 6 million at St. Charles Lwanga Primary School, Kakamega
These projects form part of the Citizens of the Future Programme, through which the Foundation seeks to enhance access to quality education across all 47 counties by improving learning infrastructure.
