The African Union Peace and Security Council formally endorsed West Pokot’s Peace Athletics League (News #194) as a continental model for sport-based conflict resolution on August 15, 2025. In a resolution, the AU praised its integration of dialogue, shared labor, and neutral competition to rebuild trust across clan lines. UNDP will fund replication in 12 conflict-affected regions (South Sudan, DRC, Somali Region). A starting block is the most democratic space on earth, said Governor Simon Kachapin at the AU summit in Addis Ababa.
