We’re Determined to Curb Insecurity in Lamu’ – Ruto
President William Ruto has reaffirmed the government’s unwavering determination to curb the insecurity plaguing Lamu County and restore lasting peace. The President, speaking during the commissioning of a new police station in the county, stated that the state is deploying all necessary resources to decisively deal with the threat of Al-Shabaab militants and cross-border crime. He assured residents that their safety is a top priority for his administration.

The President highlighted several ongoing measures, including the intensification of the multi-agency Linda Boni operation, the establishment of new security bases, and enhanced community policing initiatives. He emphasized that the government is not only focused on a security response but is also implementing development projects to address the root causes of radicalization, such as poverty and unemployment among the youth.

Dr. Ruto called on locals to cooperate with security agencies by sharing information on suspicious activities, stating that the partnership between citizens and the state is the most potent weapon against the enemies of peace. His strong reassurances are aimed at bolstering public confidence and signaling a renewed, high-level commitment to pacifying the restive coastal region.
