Wajir County Fiscal Strategy Paper 2025

Wajir, Kenya — Wajir County Government has unveiled its 2025 County Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP), outlining strategic priorities and budget allocations aimed at strengthening healthcare, infrastructure, food security, and social protection. The paper, prepared under Governor Ahmed Abdullahi’s leadership, aligns with the county’s CIDP 2023–2027 and the Governor’s manifesto, setting the stage for sustainable development across Wajir.

Since 2022, the county has rolled out key initiatives including the ongoing upgrade of Wajir Referral Hospital to level 5, construction of a County Aggregation and Industrial Park, and the drilling of boreholes and excavation of water pans to improve access to clean water. The CFSP emphasizes access to quality early childhood education and support for vulnerable groups, while recognizing challenges such as global supply chain disruptions, high commodity prices, poor roads, limited energy infrastructure, and the risk of climate-induced disasters. These factors, the strategy notes, require careful allocation of funds to ensure the county remains resilient to droughts and disease outbreaks in the coming years.

County officials say the strategy will help prioritize high-impact projects, improve service delivery, and strengthen fiscal management. Our aim is to ensure every shilling spent translates into tangible benefits for our residents, said a county finance official. The CFSP sets a roadmap for mobilizing resources, optimizing revenue collection, and implementing programmes that will stimulate employment, reduce poverty, and enhance the overall well-being of Wajir’s communities. Residents and stakeholders are hopeful that the strategy will catalyze long-term growth and development across the arid county.
