Uganda has implemented visa-free entry for citizens from 40 nations, including Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda, to facilitate travel and promote regional and international collaboration. The new visa exemption policy, introduced by Uganda’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and managed by the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, eliminates visa requirements for travelers from these designated countries. Visitors from these nations will now be permitted to remain in Uganda for up to three months, whether for tourism or business purposes. This initiative by Uganda seeks to enhance cross-border movement, boost tourism, and strengthen economic and diplomatic relations with partner countries. Countries benefiting from the exemption include Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Gambia, Zambia, Ghana, Ireland, Jamaica, and various other African nations. However, visa-exempt travelers must possess a valid passport with at least six months validity, provide proof of return travel, and have documentation outlining the purpose of their visit. The policy is designed to streamline tourism and business travel experiences while advancing regional integration, particularly among East African nations.
