Uasin Gishu Partners with EERUI to Train 1,400 ECD Teachers
The Uasin Gishu County government has joined hands with the Education Empowerment for Rural and Urban Slum Initiative (EERUI) to enhance the capacity of over 1,400 Early Childhood Development (ECD) teachers and establish childcare centres of excellence.
Key Highlights:
Capacity Building: The MoU signed in Eldoret facilitates training for all teachers in the county’s 684 ECD centres, ensuring improved quality of early learning.
Childcare Centres of Excellence: The initiative will create benchmark centres that provide safe, nurturing, and stimulating environments for children.
E-Learning Integration: The programme aligns with Governor Jonathan Bii’s vision to implement digital learning in all ECD centres, supporting Competency-Based Education.
Health & Nutrition Support: Children in ECD centres will benefit from integrated health initiatives, including the Maziwa ya Koti free milk programme, which has boosted enrolment from 40,000 to 44,000 learners.
Entrepreneurial Training: Teachers and childcare providers will also gain skills to strengthen sustainable business models for quality childcare.
Stakeholder Collaboration: County officials, including Education CEC Lucy Ng’endo and Chief Officer Eunice Suter, emphasized partnerships with organizations like EERUI to enhance quality education access.
