Turkana County hosted the first Lake Turkana Sandboarding Festival on August 9, 2025—on the dunes of the Chalbi Desert, with boards powered by solar-charged LED lights for night runs. 180 participants from 28 countries joined, boosting local homestays and craft sales by KSh 28 million.
