The Turkana Desert Resilience Running Academy opened in Lokichar on November 28, 2025—training 50 coaches from 8 ASAL counties in star navigation, heat physiology, and indigenous recovery methods. Elders and scientists co-teach; graduates receive solar-powered coaching kits. We’re not exporting Iten—we’re elevating local genius, said director Lemaron Lengurisi. The first cohort includes 28 women and 12 persons with disabilities. UNESCO will fund scholarships for Somali and Ethiopian coaches in 2026. A mobile app, *Ng’iturak Guide*, launches in December.
