The Teachers Service Commission has declared 2,014 teaching positions to fill vacancies resulting from retirements, resignations, and natural staff attrition. Of these, 1,309 are for primary schools, 637 for secondary, and 32 for junior‑level institutions. The recruitment drive comes as public schools continue to face shortages of qualified personnel — a challenge heightened by the expansion of junior secondary levels under the national curriculum changes. The move aims to stabilise staffing and ensure continuity in learning across all grades.
